Mithpälion Methedras Elentári

The main character of O.D.I.E. Mithpälion Methedras Elentári (Velethryion) is my own O.D.I.E. character, who I placed in Tolkien’s world in terms of time and events. He was present and active mostly before the Silmarils.

Mithpälion Methedras Elentári – also known as Ærrons Velethryion – is the main protagonist of O.D.I.E. (One Dream is Enough). He is a unique figure in the world of Arda: the son of Varda Elentári (an Ainu) and Lylerithion (one of the First Elves). This makes him the only known child of both a Vala and an Elf – a miracle and a mystery in itself.Mithpälion’s role in the history of Arda is not limited to being a warrior or teacher: he is the Bearer of Light. In Valinor, he taught the Vanyar about the stars, inspired the Noldor with courage, and stood as an example of loyalty and integrity. Yet his fate turned tragic when Melkor and Ungoliant rose against him. During the destruction of the Two Trees, he was devoured by Ungoliant, and all believed him lost forever. But Eru Ilúvatar sent him back to Arda – now under the name Ærrons – to bring hope among the Dwarves and Men. He did not return as a crowned king, but as a humble warrior, wandering in secret. Among the legends of the Dwarves, he is remembered as Amon Hodnrond (“The Guardian of the Mountain”), the one who single-handedly stopped an orc raid in the Misty Mountains.Mithpälion’s story is not only about heroism: it is the eternal struggle between light and darkness, the power of love and sacrifice, and the truth that even the will of the gods can be surpassed by the love one holds for others. At the very center of his life and mission stands Legolas Greenleaf – his beloved, his husband, and his eternal companion. I myself have rewritten his story many times. At first, I shaped a completely different world, but later I thought it would fit better if Mithpälion’s character and his connection with Legolas were more condensed and intertwined with The Silmarillion and Tolkien’s world. I often include images that are my own creations.

From the First Age (before the Darkening):“The stars were my first companions. I will not let their light fade, even if the Trees fall.”

Upon his return to Arda:“I do not return to rule – I return to stand.”

Among the Dwarves:“Stone can be broken, but courage cannot.”As Talion Barbossai, the assassin:“I am the shadow that hunts the shadow.”

To Legolas:“Your light is the only crown I ever chose.”—

⚔️ Barbossai-style (dark, mocking, deadly)“Look at my ass – still whole. The question is, will you be whole after this?”“Shadows cannot hide from me. I am the silence that ends them.”“Your hands will grasp only air instead of a weapon, unless you believe. You may be the one who ends this… or the one who begins it.”—

👑 The Crown (reference to Legolas)“Look upon my crown! Long and golden, set with blue gems, burned into white fire. Not even the Silmarils are worth as much. Be uncertain, if all you see is only a kitten.”—

Legacy and Role in Arda

The Hidden ValaUnlike other Valar who ruled openly (Manwë, Ulmo, Aulë), Mithpälion chose the path of secrecy and humility. His true power was not in thrones or dominion, but in teaching, guarding, and inspiring courage.

The Balance of Light and ShadowHis very existence embodied the eternal conflict of Arda: Light against Darkness, Love against Domination. In him, the flame of hope stood against Melkor, and later against Sauron.

The Protector of the ForsakenWhile the Valar mostly turned their gaze to Valinor, Mithpälion went where the forgotten dwelled: the Dwarves, the scattered tribes of Men, the Elves who never saw the Light. His mission was to give them strength, dignity, and faith.

The Hunter in the Shadows (Talion Barbossai)In the Second and Third Ages, his legacy was the silent war. Orcs, demons, corrupted Maiar, and treacherous men perished in the night without ever knowing who struck them. To many, he became a fearful legend – but to the free peoples, he was salvation unseen.

The Eternal Love Above all else, his true legacy is his bond with Legolas Greenleaf. Their marriage and children are the living proof that even the Music of the Ainur can be rewritten by love. This is the greatest miracle of Mithpälion’s story – that he chose love over power, family over dominion, and in doing so, became greater than any crown.—

🌍 7. How the Peoples Remember Him

The VanyarTo them, he was forever The Master of the White Faith, whose voice taught them the stars under the Light of the Two Trees. Even in Valinor, their chants and songs still echo his name.

The NoldorThey respected his courage, but envy and pride lingered among them. Galadriel and others remembered him as the one whose voice they should have followed instead of Fëanor’s, and his absence at the Kinslaying was felt as a wound upon their history.

The TeleriThey kept his memory in poetry and song. For them, the sound of rivers and rain carried his voice – the White Shower that blessed their journeys.

The DwarvesThey revered him as Amon Hodnrond, The Guardian of the Mountain. To them, he was not a king but a warrior who fought at their side, a figure sent by the mountain itself to protect them in times of great peril. His name entered their chronicles as a living legend.

Men (Númenor and Middle-earth)In Númenor, he was known as Alrôs, a mysterious wanderer who brought hope to the Faithful in their darkest hours. Among the tribes of Middle-earth, especially in the Third Age, he was whispered about with fear and awe: the Barbossai, who came in the night to take demons and orcs alike.

Talion Barbossai – The Hunter in the ShadowsFrom the Second Age through the dawn of the Third, his legend as an assassin and hunter spread across all lands. It is said he slew or hunted down over 20,000 enemies during this long war in the shadows. Often he struck not single foes, but entire bands or companies, annihilating them without leaving survivors. He never missed his mark – whoever he set his eyes on was doomed. The most famous tale tells of how he pursued a broken host for 49 days and 49 nights, until none were left alive. Among those he destroyed were even the monstrous offspring of Morgoth, twisted beings born from the remnants of ancient darkness. To orcs, demons, and wargs, Barbossai was terror itself: a nightmare that could not be escaped. To the Free Peoples, however, he was unseen salvation – the hand that struck from the shadows to keep them safe. The Elves of the Third Age To the Woodland Realm, he became known not only as a protector but as the eternal companion of Legolas. They remembered him not as a crowned king, but as the hidden warrior who chose love above power.—
